The design tool stays on your device
When you use the “Design yours” tool, the names, birth months, and life stages you type run entirely in your own browser. They are not sent to us and not stored on any server. Close the tab and they're gone.
Downloading your print
When you download a PNG or PDF, it's generated in your browser and saved straight to your device. There's no checkout, no account, and nothing sent to us — we never see or receive your design.
Analytics — only if you allow it
We'd like to know which pages are actually useful, so this site can use Google Analytics 4. It only runs if you press Allow on the cookie notice. Until you do, the Analytics script is never loaded and nothing is sent to Analytics — and if you press No thanks, it never loads at all.
If you allow it, Google receives the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and which browser and device type you're on. Google uses your IP address to work out that location; according to Google's own documentation, the address itself isn't stored in Google Analytics 4. None of it is ever combined with what you typed into the design tool — that never leaves your browser in the first place.
Google Analytics is run by Google LLC in the United States, so allowing it means this handful of data points is processed there. Google states that it is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which covers transfers of this kind.
One thing that happens either way
The fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, and that happens on every page whether you allow analytics or not. It means your browser asks Google for the font files, so Google sees your IP address and which browser you're using — but no cookie is set and it isn't tied to anything else. It's the one outside request this site makes without asking, and we'd rather say so than leave it out.
Cookies we set
Only two kinds, and neither is for advertising.
Your cookie choice
Stored in your browser's local storage, not sent anywhere. It's the only reason the notice doesn't reappear on every page. Set whether you say yes or no.
Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*)
Set by Google only after you allow analytics, so repeat visits aren't counted as new people. The data is kept for 14 months — the retention period set on our Analytics property — after which Google deletes it. You can clear the cookies yourself any time with the button below.
Changing your mind
You can switch this either way, whenever you like. This clears the stored choice and any Google Analytics cookies, then asks again.
Right now: checking…
What we keep ourselves
Nothing. There's no account, no sign-up, no mailing list, and no server of ours that stores anything about you. The analytics above live in Google's systems, not in a database we run.
Your rights
If you're in the EU or UK, the law gives you the right to see what's held about you, to have it deleted, and to object to it being collected. Because this site itself holds nothing, there's nothing here to ask for — the two things you can act on are both above: turn analytics off with the button, or clear the cookies with it.
Anything already sent to Google sits in Google's systems, so that's where those requests go — Google's own privacy controls let you manage or delete it. And if you think this has been handled badly, you can take it to your national data protection authority.
Who's behind this
Planted Family is a small independent project, made and run by one person in Istanbul. It isn't a company, it doesn't sell anything, and there's no team behind it. We'll update this page if any of that changes.
